Theoritically speaking Reservation is intended to give the backward and less previleged classes of society to offer a fair grounds of survival.

Somethings which are never addressed needs to be addressed:

1. People even though of backward classes origin should be filtered on income basis. A lot of ppl from backward classes are currently a very hig wage earners.

2. Reservation should only limit to high school level. This will avoid less meritorious backward class people going ahead of way more meritorius and deserving candidate of non-backward class in the race to a better university degree. The point is if the other guys high school did not help him to get into a good engg or med school or a good univ then he prabably doesn't deserve it.

3. There should also be a reservation for non-backward class people with poor wage earning families.

It should be more income based as the gap of classes is very gradually but steadily dissappearing. there is no need to catalyst the event. the purpose should not be to remove classes but to offer equal opportunity.

What I personally dislike is that the Govt. is trying to spoon feed the reserved classes and just offering them jobs which 6 out of 10 times they do not deserve. On the flip side it is causing more deserving candidates to look for less paying jobs and thus creating more agression and grudge in that candidate.

Govt should focus on providing a equal footing till high school education and then let all fight it out on their own merit.

Reservation is a need in Indian perspective, provided we set a target.
Once the target is obtained, or if we think the beneficiaries can cope up with the rest of the society, we should do away with it.

The beneficiaries must be the oppressed group in the society.

Yes reservation is a need of society. The only beneficiaries of it should be the ones who are selected on the grounds of Marks obtained and skills possessed.

Sounds like some 9th grade homework to me.

Short answer: No.

Read the Lord of the Flies. Golding describes a society there, and there was no reservation required.

I think whichever community college graduate is teaching your 9th grade class, probably meant, "Is reservation a need of civilization."

But I answered what you asked, and you should do the same.

yes. but on the basis of financial backwardness for now money can make every thing available to you no matter what your sex, religion, caste or creed. if there are restrictions they are from within the community and so is not cured by reservation. the purpose should be such that when we provide a person an education or a job with reservation, he should be able to uplift himself and at least 3 others after wards.
