when two people get divorced, is it usually a mutual decision, or does one person usually make the divorce happen? Is it usually the man or the woman? for what reason did you get divorced? I have always wondered that.

Well, he worked out of town and was cheating. And it just got to the point that I refused to allow it to happen anymore. Because when he first cheated I cried unconsolably and the nest time you cry but not as hard, until you have no more tears to cry. We went out one night with friends and I was tired and he wanted to stay, I was going to get a ride from a mutual friend of ours and I turn around to say bye one more time and he is already buying another girl a drink, I told her that he was married and that she could help him get his stuff that night from the porch,
And believe it or not when I put him out and said I want a divorce he cried unconsolably and tried to beg me not to leave him and I said what is wrong with you, you don't love me and he said yes I do, I don't know what I was thinking.

And at that point I had no emotion for him left for him, and you could tell it from the look on my face, his friends had to tell him look at her man your marriage is over as of tonight.

Of course it is different for everyone. I was young when I married the first time 18. We were married for about a year and half. He was my High school sweetheart, the only man I had ever known at the time. The divorce was me. I sort of found myself attracted to another guy and I was very unhappy. I figured if I felt attracted to someone else then I didn't love my husband like he deserved. We didn't have much of a intimate relationship. I didn't like it because I never got the full effect of it. We just grew apart, i guess.
... I think it is easier to get a divorce than it is to face and discuss your problems. I am married now and we have our share of troubles, but we talk about things, where I didn't do that the first time around. It is a shame, I think over half the people I know have been divorced... at least once.

I am in the process of divorce now and it is somewhat mutual. She fell out of love with me and found a boyfriend who she now loves and wants nothing to do with me. Many times one partner will be unfaithful and that coupled with other problems usually makes one person want a divorce. I know a couple got divorced because he wanted to buy a new car and she said no. this couple got divorced he bought the car and now they are bf and gf but have not remarried. This btw is an absolute pointless reason to divorce however it happened

I'm sure there might be statistics stating if the male or female initiates divorce more often, but I don't think it would be an overwhelming number.

My divorce was fairly mutual. We got together at a young age and got married fairly young and eventually grew apart. We were too young to know what we wanted out of life in the beginning and in the end when we figured it out, we found out that we wanted different things.

hmmm let's see. The first time was more or less because my ex went overseas (back home), after less than a year of marriage, and I stayed where I was. I moved to where he was for about six months after a year of being apart, it didn't work out, so we got divorced.
This time (being married for 13 years) I'm getting seperated (actually, I'm moving out tomorrow), but I'm not planning on getting a divorce right away. With this one it's more of less a living apart thing. We have too many different interests, friends and opinions on things. I'm still going to stay friends with my husband! I can't stand when people are married for oodles of years, and then all of the sudden start some war over their divorce. My mother-in-law did that to my father-in-law and I don't even ever want to talk to her ever again because of that.
Obviously they were friends at one time for one reason or another.

I got divorced because my ex was mean and cruel and a thief. He also used drugs. Abuse me mentally, and the last stroke was that he hit me. That day I took a plane, came to stay with my mom. I married in NYC and divorced in Florida. I started the divorce because I will not take hitting, the other things I didn't like either like the taking drugs. Came down here, met my second husband and now we have been married 31 years on October 31. All things have not been peaches and creme, but he is respectful of me. The End

There is no "usual". In some cases its a mutual decision. In other cases only one of the parties wants the divorce. If the latter, sometimes the man, sometimes the woman.

All your reasons mentioned about are valid. People get divorced and it is a mutual agreement, i.e. they both feel the need for the divorce. Or one of them has cheated and the other files for divorce. There's many reasons for divorce.

I got a divorce because my wife cheated on me.

Simple.

Hope that helps!
