Reservation can never be a boon for any country whatsoever the situation be or arise.See in India even after having given special rights and reservation to so many minor communities including the muslims who today constitute a nineth of India's population, what have we achieved in any field-nothing,except that these so called minority communities have only enjoyed the rights given to them in all the spheres but then WHAT IS THEIR CONTRIBUTION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY-I feel itis not even negligible. How many good educationist, social reformers and workers or good soldiers or policemen or otherwise good citizens or nationalists or in other field-hard to mention. Now the government wants to increase the reservation to 27% but to what avail. If they have not picked up in last 60 years there can not be magic in a single day or a month or a year. They could not come up with the main stream for they never wanted to to or work hard or learn to understand.

Reservation can be a boon only if it is taken in the right prospective otherwise it shall simply be a wastage of Nation's Wealth and efforts and time above all.

I would like to add further to GopzM : Reservation is BOON for the reserved category, GLOOM for the general category and DOOM for the society as a whole which has to suffer the consequences for lack of merit in all the areas, besides causing demotivation and frustration in persons with merit!

I agree with believer, reservation will ruin the country in the long run causing more brain drain than now, as talented intelligent people will leave the country due lack of opportunities and lack of recognition for talent.
