We often use the terms interchangably, but actually a university is made of many colleges. A college is usually a school for Liberal Arts if it is just a college. But within a university, you have varioius colleges for different courses of study, such as the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Engineering, the College of Business, the College of Education, etc.
