What you should do is call around. Right out a list of what you would expect from a service provider then start callin them and tell them what you want and ask them what they can do for you. Everyone has different needs/wants when it comes to there phn and every carrier is differant. Whats good and works for one may not for another.

Yes and No... I used to work for Nextell and I seen the good and bad. It really all depends on where you are located. I am in Oregon and it is not that great because they do not have enough towers up here. So If I was to drive To far from the tower line I would lose service. But if you are Pretty much in a highly populated area then it is great, especially with the walkie talkies. We used them for Fire/Police dispatch.

If you ever leave a metro area and head into the country...then don't do it. Nextel uses iden technology and has no way to roam on other carriers. Every other carrier has the ability to roam free on other carriers and you can use your phone in more places across the country. CDMA technology is the most accesible in the US. They would be Verizon, Alltel, US Cellular, Sprint, etc. GSM is the 2nd most accesible, Cingular, Tmobile, Suncom. iden is Nextel...they are alone!

no way. don't go with Nextel. Cingular has roll over and plans are much better. Nextel once it merged with Sprint has sucked ever since.

I have had mine for 3 years and have a great plan. My company pays for mine now at about $50 a month. I have 500 prime time minutes and unlimited nights and weekends. The Direct Connect thing is great if you have lots of friends who have it. You don't get charged at all for using that.
