In other words, if a certain actor/actress you like is in a move, or a certain director directed it, will you automatically go see it, no matter the subject?

Conversely, will you NOT go see a movie because a particular actor/director is attached to it?

For myself, as a few examples, I will NOT go see anything with Johnny Knoxville, Adam Sandler, M. Night Shylmalan (sp?), or Sarah Jessica Parker attached to it. These are just a few, but, hey, I never claimed to be rational! LOL

What about you?

Sure, there are actors and actresses that I love to see and I'll go watch the movie regardless of plot just to see their performance.

For example, I love Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Sandra Bullock, Cher...

I've given up watching Nicole Kidman flix, the only movie that she was halfway reasonable in was as the narcissistic sister in PRACTICAL MAGIC. I have given up on M. Night Shylmalan (sp?) because his last few films have reeked. I guess THE SIXTH SENSE was a lucky fluke for him. And I've never watched Sarah Jessica Parker in anything! Just seeing her once on a talk show was enough to make me decide to skip her performances.

I've watched some stuff just because Rober Redford was involved but I wouldn't say that I'd watch anything with his name attached to it.

I don't actively avoid Adam Sandler nor do I seek his works out. So, if my boyfriend was wanting to watch Adam, I might stay in the room but, given a choice, I'd get him to change the channel and no way would I pay to rent a Sandler DVD.

Not so for Will Ferrell. I will leave the room if they put his dreck on.

Yes, this is how I set up my Netflix list a lot of the time. I have set up lists based on certain actors (recently Diane Lane) and directors (Alan Parker), but it bit me one time when I was avoiding Salma Hayek because she's a little b'yotch... but it turns out she's a good actress and has been in some great films such as "Frida." So, it doesn't always work, but yes, I do this. I agree that Sarah Jessica Parker has been in some really crappy films lately like "The Family Stone" (ugh!). She's really over-rated.

For me, the director is the soul of the movie and the actors are the body. It doesn't matter how good the body looks.... If the soul is terrible then all the other things will be terrible. So it doesn't matter how talented the actor is the important thing is that the director must be talented and can make the actor act according to the script

I refuse to see anything with Will Ferrell in it. Also, if it is directed by Michael Bay or Woody Allen, it's a bad idea to see it. I will be breaking my rule for the new Transformers movie though...

I'll watch anything starring Bruce Campbell simply because he rocks. Sam Raimi is my director of choice, followed closely by Takashi Miike and Terry Gilliam.

I like Adam Sandler movies; although, I don't mind missing them, or waiting for DVD.

Probably the actor I follow the most is Tom Cruise. I like his acting style, but I also like the kinds of movies he chooses to be in--MI-2 is my fav. action movie. I also like to see movies with Natalie Portman and Kate Beckinsale.

Besides the story line, I probably base whether or not to see a movie mostly on what Roger Ebert says about it.

I agree with your list of 'not to watch' and personally would include anything with Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise, both overrated. I tend to like Foreign language films and would see anything directed by Wong Kar-wei, Godard, Herzog, Lynch. There are others but i don't want to write a huge list. As far as watching a film for the actor, probably only Johnny Depp.

Yes, I do. I don't apply it with everything.

I like Johnny Depp, so practically, any movie with im in it, I will see.

I also like Keanu Reeves. Anything by Spike Lee I am likely to see.

I have to agree with you, I will absoulutely NOT see any movie with Johhny Knoxville in it. I have a very low tolrance for stupidity and he just screems it.
