Liberal media only polls liberals, so that their message is affirmed. It is so biased. Don't believe polls.

My understanding is that polls can either survery "registered voters" or "likely voters." Statistically, I believe a higher percentage of whites and Republicans actually go to the polls than other groups.

So any poll of "likely voters" will be "skewed" towards whites and Republicans. Some news organizations don't like to use them, favoring a more "diverse" survey of the population. But it's apples and oranges - public opinion vs VOTER opinion. That's why Republicans tend to do better on Election Day than they do in the polls.

One would think exit polls of people who have just voted would be the most accurate. I believe they are. There may be studies of which political party's supporters vote earlier, or whether people lie to pollsters, etc. but I don't have details.

Because pollsters are contracted by the media. The media cannot maintain its viewership or readership with poll results that are contra-indicative to the agenda of their client base. Thusly, if polls were conducted neutrally without bias by the contracting company, the results would include a far more accurate cross section of America rather than the guy who has much in common with the guy taking the poll.

I've often wondered the same thing.

There are probably millions of polls done during a year by different organizations. Statistics dictate that someone should have contacted me about something. No one I know has ever been part of a national poll.

They fix the polls to try to sway undecided voters. The good news is that people are beginning to take voting more seriously, and not listen to the polls to make their decisions.

The better polling organizations take steps to ensure that those they poll represent a cross-section of the electorate. It would actually be quite difficult to exclude Republicans in even a completely random poll.

I'm not sure, but I'm a Republican, and I've never been pulled...Interesting...where do they do these pulls? In locations like big cities where they can reasonably assume that the majority of the population is Democrats? That's a different question altogether.

Again you are misinformed. But what else is new?

Poll takers, from wherever research group or newspaper or political think tank, always publicly specify in print how their polls were taken, who they poll, how the people were selected, etc., and they all allow a specific margin of error.
