Jim Jeffords essentially switched to the Democratic Party - not officially, but caucusing with the Dems is pretty much the same thing.
You don't see if happeneing because there is little incentive in switching from a majority to a minority party. If the Democrats take over the House or Senate this fall, there are several members that I could see crossing the aisle.

The Republican party was growing for many years. The few Congressman who switched recently reflect this trend. The ones who switched in the 60's were southerners who did not like Johnson's support for civil rights. When he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1965, he knew that 1/2 of the southern Democrats would be signing on with the Republicans.

They are either SICKENED by the filth at the top of the Democratic Party or they are a Fifth Column, switching to weaken the Republican Party's small amount of conservatism that remains.
The filthy Left will do anything to achieve its dirty agenda.....
High taxation, apologizing to enemies instead of standing up and kicking their azz, lie to the people, sell our country out to the UN and foreign countries.... not much they won't stoop to in their quest to destroy America...

In the past several congresses, only one politician has changed parties. Jim Jefford switched from republican to independent. You are a fool.

Some Democrats just get tired of all their own lying and distortion.
Some Democrats finally realized that America isn't such a bad place to live.

As usual you are full of feces. You forgotten republican senator Jim Jefford's switched to independent and caucused with the democrats thus handing power temporarily to the democrats. I suspect that Lincoln Chaffee might want to jump ship soon as well.
