CWS stands for "cool web search" which is a very nasty and hard to remove browser hijacker. Fortunately, there is a free tool to remove it. CWShredder does only one thing which is to remove various versions of CWS. Download it at: http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html

After installing and running CWShredder, I advise you to scan your computer with an online virus/ spyware scanner such as Trend Micro's HouseCall (housecall.trendmicro.com ). Next, scan your computer with AVG antispyware, despite its name it is an excellent online Trojan horse and other malicious software remover (http://www.ewido.net/en/). You can also download the software and install it on your PC.

There is no need for you to purchase security software since there is no shortage of free products (http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/).

Windows Defender always works for me. Removed several trojans with it. My daughter uses the free version of e-secure and has the same results. Are you updating your software regularly? This may be all you need to do.

xoftspy is not a good program to use. Don't try the "having to buy the program to delete". Go look for a better one like ewido.com and try AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 (www.ewido.com is same as AVG)

Also try www.filseclab.com and download Twister. Update it, and then configure settings, do a full scan.

If AVG didn't spot it report the problem to AVG. They will not only give you a solution, they will thank you for your report.
Btw, some of these free scans report fictious viruses in order to get you to but the product. I'm not saying that the one you used is one of these. I'm just warning you.

I had to clear my whole hard drive to get rid of a Trojan virus. One of hate things that i noticed was that the more spy ware i used, the more viruses i received. I also received more pop ups until i cleaned my hard drive and stopped letting my friends look at sites that had viruses!!

If you have a reputable anti-virus/spyware package ask their technical bods, that's what they are there for.
If they cannot advise you should look to purchase a good system.
If you want protection on the cheap remember, you get what you pay for ie trouble
