I mean the Romans, Spanish, French, Persians, Mughals, Turks etc etc. all had their empires, secured in brutal conflicts. Why does everyone give the British a hard time? Is it cos the British were highly successful?

the british empire was the largest empire the world has ever know, i mean we were just so rich powerful and advanced, it stands to reason that many people are jealouse and look to the bad pionts about the empire in order to make themselves feel better.

To budding author : "Brit troops are still in Ireland"

Perhaps you are not aware that Northern Ireland (where troops are present) is a part of the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).

To Angel Ice - Are you really saying that Britain is solely responsible for the slave trade? Yes the Brits made a fortune out of it - but as has been said above were the first to repeal it, and fought hard for it's total abolition.

Its cause and effect.
As you point out, the finger can be pointed around the world.
Its more than just being British, which means very little really.
Its mere identity.
Its about being human and the drive to become better and more powerful at a price.
Lives of other people most times!!

Angel Ice is full of malarkey. Britain abolished the slave trade sooner than other countries, and its empire was less exploitative than, in particular, the Belgians, but Britain's empire was larger and gets more attention. A lot of African leaders like to use Britain as a scapegoat to excuse their own uslessness. It's pathetic - Mugabe has been in power for 26 years and can't accept blame for his country's dire mess.

shall we use a sturdy chuckle appropriate now. Little England, the former worlds best imperialist ability. be conscious I suggested former. those days are long previous and that they are no longer coming decrease back and a sturdy undertaking too. there's a sparkling vast boy in Europe and that's no longer Britain plenty as you are able to like that's otherwise.

British Imperialism was sometimes not a nice thing, however, it's improper to place the blame on modern Britons for what their ancestors did years before.

Because its interesting and quite strannge...they are jealous. Plus Brits are good at rubbing other countries the wrong way because in their smallness they somehow manage to hold such a huge influence...hehe its quite funny.

They are like the small geek is school that no one likes but can't help but admire because they are so successful!

Simple answer: Same reason people are angry with the US. They were the big wigs for a very long time (and still are the relatively large wigs) and when you are on top you take a lot of flak for it ... jealousy? maybe. anger about them not doing more? possible. Annoyed about control of the globe? likely. It's human nature to be annoyed at the big guy.

we were a tough nation once but now look at us were putty in the hands of other nations,
we have freedom of speech but are never heard.
we are meant to be equal but are far from it, the North is cheaper than the south and we Queue patiently for everything allowing others to step in front of us because they can step all over us as thats how it is.
Like the older generation say we fought for this country once i bet they wouldnt do it again.

The monarchy is EXTREMELY expensive to support, and it is actually just pomp and circumstance with some legal duties performed by the Queen, such as opening up Parliament each year. Because of the expense and because many think the monarchy serves no modern purpose, they would like to see it dissolved.

Also, many resent the many recent scandals inside the Monarchy with divorces, re-marriages, sparring among members, and snide backbiting. They too would like to see the monarch dissolved.

Overall The Brits support their monarchy, and their desire should be respected.

Chow!!
