because all shops care about is sales and because some people like to buy early so they don't have to put up with the x-mas rush, unfortunately this means shops are competing for these customers. I personally find it spoils x-mas and as such I will not buy anything until after bonfire night/Halloween even then I prefer to do it in December and I wish others would do the same

As for the store I work at, a craft store, allot of the stuff is needed in advance because people are making the decorations or gifts.
As for the other stores, it's all about the$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I think people would appreciate it more if they had to wait a little. Anticipation is a good thing. Having it all out too early makes it all NOT SPECIAL anymore.

Christmas is the biggest shopping season of the whole year. Stores are counting on customers spending lots of money. So, they start earlier and earlier.

All of this is driven by $$$$.

In some cases, it's good to get started early anyway, so as not to overspend and buy on impulse.

Some people, me included, start planning the next event shortly after the last one is over. I really like having that stuff out early. So the next time you walk by really early holiday displays and get annoyed, think that there are some people that really like it and just look the other way.

sometimes they have plenty stock so why not sell them, also some ppl like to buy in advance, prices are cheaper as less demand, no rush near event, so you can do other things.
mostly it is because prices are lower when u buy early, same as most things....

So that shoppers do not have to do all the christmas shopping in one month. it is more economical when we do it over several months.
