I would love to see him a superman for the last shot, but some don't. What do you want to happen.
I would love it to tie into superman 1. Where he leaves for the fortress.

If they are smart, they'll give the people what they want... Batman to make some guest appearances. Viewers have been wanting to see Bruce Wayne grace the Smallville screen. There would be some great dialog between him and Lex. Not to mention it would really develop the character of Superman, because the Bat and Supes operate so different from one another.
Clark would progressively realize that he can no longer keep saving people with his current identity. He is putting those he cares about in danger, so he knows he needs to do something. The show ends with him in Metropolis. You see him pulling out the tights in shadow. Then we all know what is coming next.
