Hi. We have them in Ohio too, they are Asian Beatles. Nasty little creatures! They DO bite, and they stink! I too have been sound asleep and woke to these stupid things biting me! They are attracted to white mostly, so if you live in a white house, look out! We had them actually coat the whole side of our house! Even after we had our house painted a darker color, they still came. We just got a new roof and gutters, this summer but I have already seen a few. I have had the exterminator come to spray and this helps but does not get them all. Use your vacuum cleaner and suck them up. Good luck..I know it sucks.

Lady bugs that you are talking about are not your local red lady bug is it? These are asian imported beattle (more orange than red) to feed turkeys that escaped and spread around. They do bite, they stink and there is little that you can do to stop them. BTW they destroy the population of the local (nice) Lady Bugs. They have no natural enamies here in America. You might want to try and use vacuum cleaner to limit the amount, you might try some sprays as well, but be careful, I had a patient yesterday that accedently breathed in the spray and now has a bad cough.

Lady Bugs are a sign of Good Luck, maybe that's what .P.A needs right now. Sorry about what happened your state, very sad. Anyway, yes they can be very pesty, the seem to stick to things and their little bodies get all dried and crumbly when the die, We had to cork all the windows and other areas where they were getting in when we had allot of them. They seem to be able to enter from all kinds of little spots. Speaking of spots...I don't think that they bite as much as it is they have something in them that irritates our skin. Try some raid...it's fairly cheap. Good luck

If the bugs you have are biting it is doubtful that they are "Lady Bugs".

You need to catch some of the bugs and take them to your county extension service to find out exactly what they are. Then you can get a plan for eradicating the biting boogers. Check out these links:

It could be that you have an infestation of Bed Bugs, Look here:

The ladybugs are sometimes released on purpose for the environment. I heard that lemons really drive them away. I wouldn't spray anything, it's probably much worse for you than the ladybug bites, but I would avoid fruit scented lotions.
