Privatisation started in 1982 with the privatisation of British Telecom. This was a key milestone in the privatisation policy initiated by the Conservative government.
The privatisation of other companies followed:
1992 - British Telecom
1993 - British Railways Board
1984 - British Leyland
1986 - British Gas
1987 - British Steel & British Airways
1994 - British Coal
This list is not exhaustive but provides a few good examples.
