I seriously think that it is just more noticable on a black car opposed to another color, ie: white.

Ya have to admit that its funny at least to everybody reading it. One time when I was driving a tanker truck I pulled into a truck stop in Louisville Kentucky. I had seen the giant sign from the interstate. Usually that late at night its hard to find a parking spot because most of the trucks have pulled off the highway for the night. Anyway I pulled in there and there was one parking spot left right under the giant sign.I thought what luck and its even lit up. So I parked the truck for the night and the next morning I went to make my delivery and a guy at the plant asked what in the world is that all over your truck? I looked and I couldn't believe it. It was covered with bird crap. Apparently that is why the more experienced drivers didn't park there because they knew the birds would be raining down the crap all night long as they perched on that giant sign.

The primary colour of the individual bird dictates which colour that bird will target more often. Take a seagull, mostly white, so when it sees anything white and bigger(perhaps a car) than itself, it craps itself because it assumes that it is seeing another really really big seagull. I'd say the Ravens & Crows are crapping on your car.
This is my theory, and I have no idea as to whether it holds any fact at all, but hey, I reckon it is very plausable.

I have a black car too and it also seems to be the perfect target. Watch out though if you don't get it off quick smart it damages your paint work. By the way the bird c**p on my car isn't white it always seems to be this purple colour cos the birds eat berries!!

It's pigeons that are the main culprit IMHO. They roost in trees and give out this continual avalanche of lumpy brown/purple poo. We have a dark car, and it gets cacked up every night, and so does the wheelie bin .... eeeewwww! The tree at the end of our drive is about 20 feet tall though, so there isn't anywhere you can park on the drive without being underneath it.
Could we just shoot the pigeons?

Tee Hee,
Mine is ulta silver and I get an overabundance of droppings You probably keep your car or mine as I choose to call a "chariot" very clean. Birds seem to like shiny objects. Just look at it like I do, they are blessings from heaven that haven't materialized yet.
God Bless Ya

Seriously, it's not the color...the fact that it happens at night tells me that you live near a favorite bird hangout...large tree, etc. and you car just happens to be parked in close proximity. Solution? Park elsewhere, or buy a cheap car cover.
Hope this helped.
