Didn't you hear? Sally ran a telephone import-export business and sold premium seashells to landlocked landlubbers. Her corporate office was located on the beach so all sales were made "on the seashore".

Lazy people will always pay for a commodity..we could all catch our own fish..keep our own hens for eggs etc the list is endless....Hence Sally could sell seashells on the seashore.

Because some people are just too lazy to pick up their own shells...Or, maybe Sally got there before everyone and took all of the shells, so there were not any left to pick up, cornering the market on shells.

having lived near the ocean,
its something like this,
in a high tourist area, the shore is picked clean.
all thats left are broken shells, or ugly ones.
you can sell them real easy to tourists ( all you have to do is pick them up at a spot not accessable to tourists...

It should have been "Silly"...
