I only use carbon if I have medicated the tank and am removing the meds. Zeolite I have never and will never use, if you have a cycled tank you don't need it and it may actually harm the cycle by not letting the beneficial bacteria have enough food. And if you need to use salf for some reason it will make the zeolite release all the ammonia it has sucked up.

I agree, stay away from that stuff and other chemicals. I only use filter floss for the filters, not those with the carbon in it. Do weekly water changes of at leat 20%, and your water conditions should be fine so you won't need extra chemicals.
