Mothers are not "always angry", and if she had "everything she wants" she wouldn't be angry. All women go through hormonal changes, (as do men), and the only thing we, as children, can do, is to give her the same love she gives us. Mothers worry constantly about everything. Maybe she is unhappy in her love life and has some resentments about keeping it together for the sake of her children. Not that I think staying together for the sake of the kids is the right thing to do, but lots of parents do just that. Also, when women hit their late forties, their past starts to resurface and they are confronted with memories they thought were under control. Perhaps she is depressed rather than angry and doesn't know how to differentiate between the two emotions. Give her some space to have her feelings and don't do anything to piss her off or make her worry.

Generally speaking, whenever someone says "never" or "always", it just isn't true. I know that some of them are angry. I am a 34 year old mother. I can only speak from my own experiences. I am upset when I think about the fact that I have a part-time job and I come home, not to relax, but to my other job, "mother", where I get paid nothing.
I do not know if they are angry for attention but, I doubt it. I'm sure that they think that they have a good reason, even if nobody else agrees with that reason.

Maybe it just appears that mothers are angry alot. It can in some ways make young children try harder(in school etc) We want to fix everybody that we love and that is a very hard job. Give your mom a hug and let her know u appreciate her. In a small way, Fix her coffee or tea one morning, take out the trash without being told. Be patient being a mom is a full time job. It comes with alot of stress and pressure. GOod LUCK

Oh gosh... I totally feel you..I have no idea! They just seem to always witch out on me.. Gosh, and especially the 50-60 year-olds.. They are the worst. You just gotta get on thier good side. Don;t get them cookies, cuz then they think that you think that they are fat ( kind of confusing, I know.. Whew..)
I am not sure that it is purely out of attention, however. I think that they are just overly sensative to everything around them, and it is the peak time that they start going through menopause. When this happens, their emotions just go outta whack.. there's nothing, really, that you can do about it..
Good luck, I hope my answer helped you!

Good question, but the old saying goes, "if the woman isn't happy, nobody is happy."

They are getting old, and perhaps they are having physical problems, or health problems, and this makes them angry.
