Your vehicle should have a diagnostic port where they can hook it up to a trouble code reader to check for bad sensors, ECM, ICM, etc. Also I'd check into your new fuel pump...make sure it's connected properly and test to see if it is pumping fuel to the engine.

We purchase previous autos all of the time and battery themes continually arise. Heres are 2 techniques that would help shop it beginning & what it must be. One automobile wasn't pushed interior the winters & if left it to long without driving would not commence the two. So each few days i could commence it for a jiffy. If I waited longer then that i could want a bounce. i could in simple terms attempt this if i become you. yet another automobile would not commence & had to be jumped each morning. After procuring 3 new batteries we found out the Antenna become the reason. by some ability draining the battery. We disconnected the antenna and have not had a challenge on condition that. in all probability no longer what's inflicting your challenge yet basically a heads up that something small like that must be what's incorrect.

First thing I would test for is spark. For a vehicle that old, it's most likely electrically related.

If you have a timing light, place it around one of the wires and crank the engine with the starter motor and see if your timing light flashes.

If it doesn't, i'd be looking at the igniter module (ignition control module), which I think is the most likely candidate.

If your getting spark, then your next test would be to check to be sure the fuel injectors are firing, this is the next likely candidate.

However, your mode of failure, where in the past it died, but then started back up would tell me that the igniter module is the most highly supsect candidate. Oh, and sorry to say, it's not a cheap part. :-p

Had that problem a few years ago and I found out the timing belt was off by 1 tooth. This caused the engine to shut down and not restart for about 1/2 hour. With the timing belt corrected, it never happened again. ( no they did not fix something else because I fixed the timing problem).

To run:
1) Fuel
2) Spark
3) Compression

Start checking until you find what is not there, fix it and it will start.

How does it start when it does start back up? Do you have to hold down the accelerator? Does it hit a couple times in repitition until it starts? If it's Dash pot injected...Have someone rebuild the barb. sounds like it's flooding or opposite. Neway sounds like a fuel problem
