I would say a roller coaster. I've heard of the Life is Like a Roller Coaster, but never have I heard of an Out of Control Chainsaw in a Crowded Lavatory Cubicle before.
My life is a Roller Coaster and I have been dreaming of roller coasters a lot lately.
How about "If Life was a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the Pits"? Or, "The Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"?

Life is more like a roller coaster, to choose between the two.
There's ups, there's downs, maybe the thrill of a loop, but basically it runs on a nice, safe track.
