Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag Indians. In fact, neither the standard Thanksgiving meal of turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie nor the family orientation of the day reflects the Plymouth event...

Thanksgiving Day started a long time ago, when Protestant English were banished from their country and started a new life in America. Life was harsh to them there, it was quite cold in winter and many died. But there they met Indians ready to share their food and tents with the newcomers and that is when the English people thanked God for the blessings they had received. This is why this holiday is called Thanksgiving.

The first gathering of the Pilgrims was to give thanksgiving and blessing to God for their survial during very harsh and rugged
winter and times.
Native Indians were invited because the Indian support is what saved those pilgrims.
They weren't equipped to handle the New Worlds environment.
Do not even know what to lant or grow or hunt.
They were indeed THANKFUL=to GOD for being alive hence thanksgivings.

It's everyone's Holiday in the USA in all walks of life to give Thanks for what you have and what your Thankful for.
However, as a Christian I want a Biblical prespective on this Holiday. My Family keeps this Holiday as Christ Centered as Possiable. I love the turkey and the green bean cassroles and other sides you have.

Thanksgiving started with the pilgrams and indians as it was taught in school. They had a big feast and gave thanks for each other giving whatever of the feast they gave. For most it is a time where majority of the family come to one house to eat the food that the whole family put together, have fun, and give thanks to God for the blessing of having all that is there.

it started with the Pilgrim surviving the first winter months in the new world. It also started with a successful harvest of crops. The shelter the Natvie American gave, and that they became friends. the ironic part of this gushy story, is that eventually that same Native American that helped them were kicked off their land and into reservations

fourth Thursday in November in the United States; second Monday in October in Canada; commemorates a feast held in 1621 by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag. Now we give thanks for what we have on that day and we share it with the people we love, we share it doing exactly what the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag done: we get together with friends and family and share a big dinner with each other and before everyone eats we all tell what we are thankful for and then we thank god for all he has done for not just us but for everyone else too.
