Because Hollywood believes that everybody there should be masters of the universe. I swear God is going to hit the place with lightning and blow it up. I too, am really irritated about all of the celebrity hype. Hollywood is the only place on the planet that takes a terrible situation and blows it up in the papers as though it's a good thing. (Like Angelina and Brad. A homewrecker, and a married man, and then they have a child out of wedlock. Hollywood gives them a medal for this.) It's terrible. So when someone adopts, they should be bowed down to and treated like a saint. I fear for the children they adopt. I would never want to raise a child in a superficial environment like hollywood.

No - we do not! The world has gone celebrity mad and boy is it time for a reality check! So many good, worthwhile people living their daily lives without all the hype - doing wonderful things and making a big difference in the lives of others. There is only one reason we are all informed when a CELEBRITY has adopted a child - PUBLICITY! Don't be fooled into thinking that they do all the hard yards of raising that child. No one will convince me that they change nappies, wipe noses, potty train or clean up vomit. These people have a whole crowd of employees paid to do this and all the other hard stuff. Tom Cruise recently became a biological father and exclaimed "I've always wanted to be a dad!" - hello????? He has two adopted children already - remember them????????????????????????

No, it's just more publicity for the so-called celebrity. It's been in the news that Madonna's marriage is in trouble, hence the adoption. If this is true, the child should have gone to someone with a strong relationship. Kids can't be used for selfish purposes

I adopted a child, from here in the usa.

I think the celebrities are using it as a status symbol,
but I am glad that adoption is in the news more.
make others who may not have thought of it and idea that they can help.

It is a lot cheaper and easier to adopt from the state you live in,
unfortunatly, most people want infants,
and the ones to adopt here are usually older....
so, I guess its a mixed bag to me.

We probably don't *need* to know, but the news media is under the impression that we care about every tiny detail about every celebrities' life. They announce it when a star has a baby, so why not announce it when they adopt as well?

Of course we don't need to know. But a lot of people seem to WANT to know, mostly because they find the celebrities' lives so much more exciting than their own. Sad. If they only realized that a celebrity's life is no more likely to be happy and satisfying than a bus driver's...

celebrities just adopt children so they can get back into the media spotlight. also they may feel guilty about having $200 million dollars while other people have much much less than that.

In the case of Madonna, she is a media wh*re. She felt the need to broadcast this adoption so it keeps her in the spotlight. She's old, outdated, and her career is pretty much dried up. Why not just live your life and not do things just to keep you in the limelight...it's played out.
