I am normally a very kind-hearted, friendly person....however..at times I have an uncontrollable temper usually when I am arguing with a boyfriend. I have kicked things, driven recklessly, and even thought about hitting things. I have tried counseling with one psychologist, but it didn't seem to help. How can I learn to control this behavior?

GROW UP AND CONTROL YOUR IMPULSES

anger is a seconday emotion. Meaning that in order to feel anger you would have had to have felt one emotion first. My guess is that your first emotion was a feeling of being hurt (sad maybe). You may have only felt it for a second, but it still had to exsist in order for it to turn into anger.
The best way is to try and recognize the emotion you are feeling, without allowing it to turn to anger.
The best things I can suggest for you to find out more is to read about Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). It talks a lot about recognizing emotions, understanding and regulating them. This may also be one of the best ways to learn to control emotions. I hope this helps.

Honey, I'm just like you....I've been way out of control like that. There is no help, but ourselves. I try to breath deep and walk away. I know it's hard, but you'll regret a lot later if you say or do things that are crazy.

You are very fortunate, you realize you need help! Try talking to your family Dr., he should know of a program that will help you. He may even decide medication may help. Don't ignore it, it just gets worse over time. Best of luck!

you need to see a doctor if possible, because it could be a real illness and with the right medication you might feel like your old self again.
