From 1974 - 1982, Chrissie was pretty much unbeatable on clay and was a force to be reckoned with on most other surfaces. If there was clay, clay and only clay, do you think she would be more of a legend that what she is known as now?

Immortal CE the first true American darling was unbeatable on any surface on her day. To attribute her proweress to only clay is to detract from her formidable achievements as one of the best female tennis player to grace the game.

To me she comes pretty close to Billie Jean King anyway as the all time best women player. She was huge both on and off the court for women's tennis. When she joined the Virgina Slims tour she solidified the women's game. She was a lot like Agassi in the sense that we saw her grow up and Morph into an outstanding person in front of our eyes.

No doubt she was the best, until Navratilova appeared and has
been declared the best of all time. She only quit this year at age
49 in mixed doubles at USA Open. Chris was there to cheer the
honours awarded to her colleague, who, by the way, spoke very
highly of Chris. Confetti all around.

i dont think so because if caly was the only surface then people would only train on clay and there would be loads of fantastic players for that surface.

If you look at her play, there is no way that she could compete with the modern players.
