Do you have a VCD Player software installed? You can't play it with DVD playing software. VCDs are normally on CDs and can be played with a regular CD-ROM drive. It really has nothing to do with DVD / DVD-video. You just need a VCD player program.

VideoCDs really aren't too popular here in the States. Finding a unit that'll play a VideoCD would be difficult.

However, a VideoCD is simply an MPEG-1 file (or files) on a CD-ROM. And any Windows PC can play an MPEG-1 file.

But, the MPEG-1 file(s) on a VideoCD are usually "masked" by having their ".mpg" extension renamed.

Browse the CD. Find the largest files. Those are most likely the MPEG-1 files. Copy those files to your hard drive, and rename them to have a ".mpg" extension.

Then, Windows Media Player should play the files.

You may need a different video player like DIVX, or winamp..both free. Wndows media player 10 and Power DVD may not always play VCDs, Also many newer dvd players will play them on your Tv. You will have to check the specs.
