If this is for the traditional Texas Homecoming Mums, I actually just did this last week! Our Homecoming is next week in Spring, Texas. Homecoming Mums are big business around here, and can easily run upwards of $200.00. What I did was purchase a simple two-mum set-up with the bear in the middle of the flowers, and the school color ribbons hanging down. Then I went to Hobby Lobby (you can go to Michael's too) and bought trinkets (silver and gold) to match our school colors of black & gold. I bought these trinkets and lots of extra ribbon & tiny bells to add to the mum and everything was 50% off. Might still be. I also bought little jewels and crystals in the shape of hearts & stars and hot-glued them onto the ribbons. I bought some tiny trinkets & tiny jewels and hot-glued them onto the mums. I took little 2 inch sections of pretty matching ribbons and hot-glued them all around the mum. You can get lots of pretty things to add to the mum at Hobby Lobby from the Christmas section, believe it or not. I also added a black feather boa with silver strands around the outer edge on both sides for extra fullness. I bought strands of inexpensive plastic beads in gold and silver to not only hang down but also drape across like military chains. Best thing you can do to any of these Homecoming Mums is just think about the person receiving the Mum and personalize it with things that person would like, things in their favorite color, trinkets that represent their interests/hobbies/sports, and make it sparkle. Good luck to you and enjoy the Homecoming Mum!

You could buy a pot of smaller mums in a color near or different and add around the "homecoming mum". I like the others ideas also. But think mums to compliment the dress.

U can either use another small flower to complement it like baby breath r use ribbons. Either take the ribbon and make a bigger bow than normal or have a bow with some curly cues and just hanging straight out.

Is this for a corsage? I would add some fern sprigs or baby's breath around it or both.
