I am in a PC Operating Systems class, and we are studying DOS. I'd like to download it so I could do work at home. Is it safe to do so if I already use Windows? I didn't know, since a computer can only run one Operating System at a time. Thanks so much!

You can download anything and everything. Safe. Well nothing in the world is safe. You run the risk that you'll contaminate your computer with viruses, worms, spywares and what not. By the way why would any one want DOS the original OS that started it all.

Most -if not all- computers using Windows already has DOS loaded. Look in your Accessories for DOS Prompt. This will take you to DOS.

Good Luck!

XP already comes with a DOS emulator (run "cmd" from Start->Run...) is there anything that the emulator doesn't do that you would need to run the, now 10 years obsolete, most recent version of DOS?

Install DOS in a different partition than the one you have right now, doing that you could have no problems at all.
