Stand facing the landslide, bend slightly at the knees, lean forward slightly with the lower back. Hold your arms straight out, fingers pointing upward palms facing out. When the slide starts. Yell STOP!

If it really is such a large mass that it could demolish your house then you are not going to stop it with wood.

I'd call your insurance company, they have a vested interest in keeping your property upright so might consider writing to the owners for you.

Tell them to call someone about it...My grandmothers pool was sliding downhill and was going to end up in the lake behind their house...they called somone out and had it fixed so im sure a garden would be no problem.

You can PREVENT a landslide but you don't stop one.
Notify you neighbor by certified letter about the problem
while contacting you local city or county building inspector
to come and visually told you what they think.
Also notify your insurance company--they might insure you both!
If neighbor does not take care of problem-small claims court is the next step. (no lawyer is needed)

Call the city and have them check it out. Unfortunately you may not be able to do anything at this point, but I would still see if there's even a chance of you being able to stop the slide.

Been here. First you have to find out who is responsible for that side of the garden. Might be indicated on your deeds. If it is not on your deeds then the boundary is the responsibility of you both. Don't bother with your local council they probably won't want to get involved. Remember if it is your responsibility and it does collapse then your neighbour might claim off you. Have you tried talking to your neighbour.

a retaining wall should do the trick - but get them to pay for it if it means you loose garden space - or is unsightly.
if they refuse then you can tell them they have to deal with their garden - if not, go see a lawyer x

communicate by letter with your neighbour. If necessary back it up with an engineers report followed by a compulsory maintenance order issued by your local council. Good luck.

Call your local town on this issue first and find out what they say to do. They may go to him and have him address this situation.
