Do you think divorces are only for non catholic people? If the attitude you have is it's not going to last, then don't ever do it. Realizing a lot of marriages fail, a lot of that is because people are too quick to give up. They went into it thinking it'll never last. And they were right. It's sort of self prophesying. Besides, you can get an annulment (my mother did) when your catholic and it's like you were never married. Of course if you have kids, your annulling them too. (again my mother did it so she could get married, after 2 divorces, in the catholic church. She had to have her first 2 marriages annulled. Then she had a clean slate as far as the church was concerned. There's always a way.)

Marriage in and of itself is a gamble, that is why you should do a few specific things before you get married. First make sure you know the person on an intellectual level first, find out what kind of morals they have, make sure you have the same life goals, make sure there is a mutual respect for one another, this includes families. Now, this may sound really old fashioned, but avoid sleeping with the person until you get married. If you can put your physical urges on hold and still enjoy being with the person then you have a chance of making your marriage work and you don't have to worry about being Catholic, Baptist, Muslim, Jewish, Lutheran, whatever.....

Marriage should always be taken seriously. I think too many people enter into it nonchalantly and then decide to get a divorce when things go wrong.
As for Catholics, it is a bit more difficult. Getting a divorce can get you excommunicated from the church. Suicide is not the answer to the way out of an unhappy marriage. Speak to a priest, speak to a counselor, speak to your spouse. Those are the best words I can give you.

Well when you get married you give vow's in front of God, "for better or worse, till death do us part." So you need to be smart and get the right spouse. You do not go to hell if you have a divorce or commit suicide. God forgives all.

Yes it is.
There is a high % of Cathlic men that end up having stay at home wives/moms. This puts you in dire financial risk if divorce happens.

WE CATHOLICS ARE NOT SO BACK IN THE OLD DAYS THAT THE CHURCH WOULDN'T RECOGNIZE A DYSFUNCTIONAL MARRIAGE THAT NEEDS TO END. I DIVORCED BECAUSE MY EX WAS A PHILANDERER, I WASN'T EXCOMMUNICATED.
YOU HAVE A MISCONCEPTION OF CATHOLICS.
WE DO BELIEVE SUICIDE IS WRONG

Remember your vows and also remember Jesus died to forgive our sins. You will be forgiven if you just cant make it work. but i would give it my all. Go into your church and talk to your Clergymen and you can do counseling or something too. Try everything you can to make it work.

You're only trapped if you want to be. Your choices are in your own hands, whether you're catholic, protestant, orthodox, hindu or whatnot.
