They get to know people whom they are attracted to. SOMETIMES when people date they date a few people at a time...this is so they can see which person they will match with the best. When people are going together (going steady) they are exclusive and see no one else.

i believe that when you date someone its to get to know the other person and go out and have a good time together. yeah a lot of people sleep together , but i don't really think your getting to know the real person when your in bed together.
