.....no one seems to understand your meaning?

Happens all the time. But as frustrating as it it can be I have to remind myself of a few simple truths. When I am talking, most of the attention of the listener is involved in thinking of a response. The reverse is also true. Talking is a very complex interaction between humans. Much of the meaning is projected physically and in the tone of the conversation. I would guess that if there is a common language being used, 30% of the conversation's meaning is communicated by non-verbal input.
So (if you go with my theory) 50% of what you are saying isn't even heard and 30% of that can be misinterpreted. When you get right down to it, it is amazing that we can verbally communicate at all.

Now written communication has different aspects. There is not the need to think of an immediate response and you can re-read the information given you. Written communication tends to be much more logical and straightforward. The down side of written exchange is there is no physical or emotional inflections in the exchange. While the words are better understood than in verbal dialog, the real meaning is quite often lost.

Again, it is amazing that any of can communicate at all.

Sometimes, I'm kinda proud of my species.

Uh, memotose incapituates what I thought I meant, but really had no thought at all, uh, of expressing in a coagulate way. What I really mean, and please bear with me Yogi, is that the hypotenuse of the triangulation of the square of the spare tire seems to be diametrically opposed to almost nothing I have written or meant before. Have I made myself a trans parent?

Yep! I know what you mean. Also, whenever you meet someone online, it is VERY HARD to get your points across to that person right away. At least that has been my experience. Online chat rooms, email, messenger services, these are cool yet cold when it comes to some types of communication.

Hmm. Much of the stuff seen on here bears you out. Too bad so many, though, throw together strings of meaningless gobbledegook that defies understanding.

*yes; or they seem to twist everything I'm trying to say!!!!
It can be so annoying but, I try to remember that not everyone is in the same place mentally, so, what makes since to me may not be so clear to others.
ps
btw: your pic is beautiful! if that is really you, then maybe other people are so focused on how pretty you are that they CAN'T hear anything your trying to say.. just a thought. :)

Of course. That's all part and parcel of being a member of the species...it also explains:

1) Why we all just can't get along.

2) Attorneys.

Yes, but I also find most people are self centered and therefore not really listening anyway. Now I only speak when I am compelled to do so.

yes! It gets so frustrating to try to search for different ways to explain it. Sometimes you have to just give up on what you are trying to express to them.

Yes, that happens to all of us at times I would imagine. So when it does, you can grin and bear it, or you can let your frustration out.
I would prefer the former to the latter. It's best not to dwell on these
type of things and move on, unless it is of something of vital
importance.

Yes all the time. Plus everything I say people take the wrong way. That's why I stopped talking.
