This is a catch-22 question. Some people could justify almost every war in some fashion, while others would hold opposite position. Some people just cannot stomach war, even when it is purely undertaken for self defense. Just this morning I was posting in a question about Japan and World War II. Some people were stating that Japan attacking America was the fault of the United States. My answer is that if you are the one being attacked, then war for you would be justified, everything else is just shades of gray open to individual interpretation and world view.

bornalib: While it is true that France played a major part in our independence they have become decidedly anti-american in recent years. This is their right of course. If citizens of the United States wish to take offense this is our right. We more than paid France back by our efforts to help liberate them from occupation by Germany in World War II.

The Revolutionary war for sure. Maybe if Bill O'Reilly picked up a history book once in a while he would stop making comments about France. A huge part of the reason why we won that war was because of France. Read people read!!!

Justified by who? Being invaded is justification for going to war isn't it? How about having your leaders assassinated? Or your trade lines blocked? Who gets to say what's 'justified' and what isn't?
