No offense but that's way too much thinking.

It's entertainment, and often does no more than imitate life.

I assume most often, not to analyze a symbol like "snow",,, if I happen to be engaged in a movie where SNOW is a natural occurence, or situational to a scene or location.

Example: LONG ago movie... Miracle on 34th street. It was Winter, Christmas was imminent. The theme of the movie wasn't at all about SNOW, but it made a believeable PROP in that it was WINTER. K2 is another.

I suggest too that analyzing RAIN, strictly as a cleansing mechanism or suggestion in a film, might be subjective and often is in fact the theme,,, BUT,,,Rain is a fact that begins not strictly, scientifically, spiritually, or metaphorically, as a laundering process.

Never heard that one....I disagree that this is how it is perceived. Rain and snow can signify different things but for it to mean only one thing-no. There are many movies where it is raining and it has nothing to do with a "new beginning". Usually a "darker undertone" is the theme...It could be as simple as it is just raining or snowing depending on the weather.

It's true that it depends on the overall theme of the movie, but you could interpret it to mean that hard times are coming.

For instance, in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, snow was unwelcome because it meant the white witch was in control. When the snow faded, the hard times were over.

In other movies, though, snow is welcome - especially by children who are awed by the wonder of this soft, magical blessing from the sky. It means to them fun, adventure, days off school. But even children know the fun can't last forever, especially when the scene cuts to them shoveling it out of the driveway.
