Because the war has nothing to do with peace in Iraq. Ask yourself, was it hapenning in Iraq at the time of Saddam Hussain what's hapenning now? This war was not for making America safe, its for making rich peoples more & more rich.

The US won the "war" in Iraq after about 6 weeks of the invasion.

They are "winning the peace", but it is a slow painful process because there are several factions of Iraqis hellbent on killing each other rather than working out a compromise to share power.

Keep in mind, the USA has had over 200 years to transform an enlightened tyranny into modern democracy.

Iraq has fewer resources, less goodwill and no historical precedent. Early Americans had the option of moving to (relatively) empty territory rather than fight. The people of the Middle Eastern countries have no such option.

If you are patient and willing to lose about a 1000 soldiers a year, America will have its way in iraq within a decade or so.

The war in Irag is not a war to say because we will always be fighting terrorist. The war that we start is finished. Irag has it own government and is building up in stability as a nation. But as long as there are terrorist group there it will be hard to keep the peace. These group kill both Iraqians and American/others forces.

We did win the war. You capture the enemy leader, thats a win.

Why we are still there helping them rebuild from getting the butts kicked, I can't explain.
