my father lives behind me.he cant read or write eighter,he always depends on me to tend to his unfinished buisness, but i want to leave and i feel i cant because of him . he hates my husband and so do i but i need to get my life back. but if i leave he will be heartbroken ,so is there anything i can do to help him and me as well?

If you don't move far you can check on him everyday. I live behind my Mom and i can't leave either. Sometimes I would just like to get away , but I handle everything for her, and I don't know what she would do.

see if you can find an adult education program that doesnt cost much or maybe nothing at all..so dad can learn to read and write...and move on with life...regret will make you sick...you have been a good daughter, dont let guilt keep you from life

one step at a time there are sooo many wonderful programs out there for not only your father but also yourself you sound like a care giver to all but yourself helping him to learn to be self reliant would boost his confidence and give you peace of mind
