After all, there are politicians in both parties who behave in ways that Christ would find objectionable. Also, since Jesus is supposed to be the son of God, don't you think that he would be above politics?

Because they are morons with uneducated agendas. How sweet it sounds to tell the huddling masses of superficial idiots empty headed until they are pumped with someone elses ideas that their GOD and their Savior would have been on their side politically and bask in the knowledge that the people are too stupid to know better.

Well, Jesus was a Jew. Most Jews are Democrats.
Jesus was a Christian fundamentalist (Republican)
Jesus was a humanitarian (Democratic)
Jesus was for "an eye for an eye" (Republican)
Jesus was an exostentialist thinker (Democratic)
Jesus was for "intelligent design" (Republican)
Jesus could walk on water. (I don't know how this one fits, but it's a really cool trick)
Jesus was not for a Big Government (Republican)
Jesus turned water into wine (another cool trick, but this doesn't help us with the question either)
Jesus didn't have much money (Democratic)
Jesus was willing to sacrifice his life for what he believed was right (Republican)
He was non-violent (Democratic)
He was the son of the most powerful being in the world (Republican)
He didn't freak out over ANY issue (Moderate)
He hung out with criminals and whores (Both Parties)

Well, I don't really think that he would have fit too well into either party. I think that If he were reborn today, the world would think he was a psycho. They'd never believe that he was the son of God. He'd probably end up starting a cult and getting arrested. Then, he would be a convicted felon and unable to vote in any election anyway. Then it wouldn't matter what his political affiliations were.

I think he'd be a non partisan humanitarian. This is the same man who rioted in a synagogue during a time where church leaders were revered as almost godly. He would not tolerated the hypocrisy that automatically comes along with politics.

Look at the Paige incident. How is a perve on cap hill a bipartisian issue. Some people are dirty and instead of dealing with the issue they trying to use it to win seats. Jesus would not be happy.

i'm a working in direction of Christian. I shop God as close as achieveable in my existence, yet I be certain you have a separation of church and state in each little thing politically. i'm a centrist, yet I lean a splash left (liberal) and a splash libertarian. I hate it whilst human beings (like the Republicans) carry their faith into government and declare they understand what they are doing. i'm no longer professional-determination (because of fact heavily, you need to've worn a condom and you have start administration) except that is from rape. i'm comfortable with gay marriage and use of marijuana because of fact i think in letting human beings stay their existence the way they want it as long because it would not injury every person else. i'm additionally in direction of banning tobacco and nicotine (hashish is a greater desirable option.)

Jesus would indeed be above politics. But he would not be above criticizing certain policies or actions.

He would certainly criticize individual politicians who did not do the right thing because it was not politically rewarding. And he would criticize those who claimed devout faith but who don't let their faith interfere with their votes. I don't think Jesus would applaud a person whose faith and actions diverged.

It's about getting a voting bloc. If they can co-opt Jesus as a "spokesman" for your party, they believe they can secure the Christian voters. A very cynical proposition.

He doesnt need to support a party. The republicans support him and believe they have his favors. And they are right. He is not a tolerant God,does he say its ok to sin,no. He forgives sin. I cant imagine Him saying -its ok to kill a child,we would want to inconvience the mother. would you think that He would likely be a democrat?

Jesus was against all government political but he went with them, like in paying taxes in a city, he sent one of his men to fish (in the fish was a coin which he gave for taxes),

Yes, of course He would be above politics, but based upon his life spent helping others, he would clearly be a liberal.
