I have a mac laptop and PC desktop that I would like to share my monitor. Is there a DVI switcher or splitter that I can use to switch between views without unplugging the dvi cable and moving it from one unit to the other? What is it called?

You need a KVM switch (keybard/video/mouse). I do not know if these exist for DVI, but you could use VGA adapters and get a VGA switch if your monitor supports it.
