Try writting your paper a couple days in advance, then proof read it. This helps you find errors because you most likely forgot the format you wrote in. Have others read your paper (i.e. your professor, a friend, a parent..)
Whatever you do DO NOT use words from a dictionary if you do not already know the meaning! Misusing words makes you look less competent, however vary words if you are using the same word over and over again, a thesaurus is very useful here but once again do not use words if you are unsure of the meaning.

- find out who will mark the paper
- look up his/her year book
- blackmail them with nicknames, or things you find from there
Seriously,
- Keep sentences short (they have greater impact)
- Have the setting out easy to read and neat (it is refreshing for teachers that mark so many papers)
- Have a beginning, and middle and an end (too many try to put too much middle, and forget structure)
- Read it before handing in. Would it sound good from the stage? Are there places where people would applaud? (again, good ideas in too long a sentence, loose the impact / applause factor.)
- At some time, when you are writing, Blair, you will be tempted to lie. Some passionate issue will pop up, and you will want to water it down. The examiner can tell when you are not revealing the true you. Be Yourself. He doesn't have to agree with you. He just has to see that you can express your ideas onto paper.
Most important, have fun!

Vary the sentence structure, use logical vocabulary words, and proofread the material. Good luck.

Proofread, proofread, proofread! Check for any spelling (computers should check this), check for sentence/grammar errors, and finally check for smooth organizational flow.
