that cookie monster from sesame street can only have 1 cookie at a time now?
Is this to deter kids from shoving numerous cookies in their mouth and having crumbs fly all over?

Well, you know, TV is very influential, and kids always imitate what they see. To this day, when I eat cookies, I still shove them all in my mouth at once, spitting out crumbs all over, and saying "ummnummnummnummnumm ..."
At least Cookie Monster's back ... that Veggie Monster or whatever was a stupid experiment in social engineering.
