Use Citrocell or Metamucil. Eat oatmeal everyday and drink 8 glasses of water a day. Dried prunes are delicious. Eat as many as necessary. Another remedy is mix applesauce, millers bran and prune juice. Keep it in the refrigerator and use it 3 times a day. Avoid laxatives or stool softeners. They work in the short run, but just make the problem worse.

Try some stool softeners. They work well. You can pick a bottle up at Walmart for less than $5.00.
If that doesnt help after a couple days, then you need to see your doctor.

In the short term, you can get suppositories from the chemists to help you go.

In the long term, eat lots of fibre (fresh fruit and veg, bran, prunes), and exercise (helps your gut move things along).

If you need help with your fibre intake, you can get sachets of fruit flavoured fibre drink from chemists too - I think Fibrogel is the brand name.

Get your partner to put his hand in and drag it out.

OOH yeah instant relief. I haven't tried this of course but rumour has it that it's virtually pain free!

Um, laxitives?
Well, that's sometimes a bit too harsh, and they might not even work.
Incorporate fiber into your diet. (through like, banana's and cereals-probably most other fruit, too)
