Quotes from teh Turner Broadcast Pressroom...

"Adult Swim has given the greenlight for a second season of The Boondocks, the new hit series from creator Aaron McGruder, based on his award-winning comic strip of the same name. The network has ordered 20 new episodes of the series, which is produced by McGruder's production company, Rebel Base, in association with Sony Pictures Television."

"It ranked as the best series premiere in Adult Swim history, and has consistently ranked among the top programs on basic cable each week among young adult viewers. This month, The Boondocks was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Comedy Series."

The show is considered to be one CN's Best. Very good animation, fearless writing. Skewers left and right.

They simply ordered a dozen or so episodes to begin (not knowing whether or not the show would work at all) and have run through them all. Rather than rerun them until everyone is sick of them, they are likely on hold until new episodes can be made.

Other cartoons that have had very good ratings merely ended because they contracted for a certain number of episodes, and having finished them, could not keep voice actors, animators and writers on hand waiting for a new deal for more. Also, sometimes the creators feel it is time to move on and do other things.

I predict Boondocks will be back, late nght on Sundays, but back.
