at 4ft 11 inches. My daughter is 5ft 1. Maybe one day down the line we will actaully be able to reach the top cupboard. LOL!

My mums 5', my dad's 4' 10". I was lucky to get to 5' 8"!

In terms of genetics it a combination of your parents heights, but sometimes one side influences more than the other. Take my family for exampls. My dad is 6ft. My mom is 5ft. I ended up being about 5'2". 2 of my brothers ended up in the 5'10" range, but one brother blew the scale and grew to 6'4"!
But besides the very strong genetic influence, nutrition plays a part too. You see this when the younger generations who had access to better foods start growing taller than their parents and grandparents.

My brother and I top 6 ft. We are at least 3 inches taller than ALL of our relatives. I guess it came from living in chicken farm country and the fertilizer effect of all that manure.

My family is just naturally tall. I am 5'8" and I am actually the shortess one in my immediate family. My mom is 5'9", dad is 6', older brother is 6'3" and my younger sister is 6'1". My husbands side is very short. He is the tallest in his family at 5'10". everyone else is shorter then him. Thank goodness our son took after my side of the family. He is very tall for a 6 year old at 52". He was the tallest on his football team.

It is generally inherited from someone in the family. I'm 5'7". I have 3 brothers, all over 6ft. My Mom and Dad both are around 5'7 to 5'8". I do have an uncle who is 6ft.

It seems to be a combination of genes and nutrition. Genes give you the basic potential, nutrition is like fertilizing a plant--the better the nutrition, the bigger the plant, or the person.

I think it's just one of those things. My parents used to tell me I take after my grandmother, which would mean my Dad gave me those genes. I'm taller than my mother.

As far as I know if you don't smoke and get lots of sleep betweent being born and the age of about 18 you will be taller.

My height (and I think my sister's height) come from the mid-point or so between my mom (5 ft.) and my dad (6 ft.).

My father was 6'1", my mother 5'7".
My brother is 6'1", my sister and I are about 5'4".
My maternal gparents & paternal gparents were tall.
My paternal gmother was about 5'2".
