I've been on it for a month and a half and am just now starting to break out in hives on my tummy and legs and am wondering if it could be from the wellbutrin? I've heard that you can develop an allergy to a med even though you have been taking it regulary I'm scared to stop taking them because of withdraw side affects. The hives are not there constantly so it is bearable I'm just wanting someone else's opinion before I have to suck it up and actually go see my weird military Doc.

I have been on Wellbutrin for close to a year and I haven't noticed itching, but I burp a lot from it. A LOT.
Anyways yes you can develop an allergy out of nowhere, no you should NOT stop taking it without your docs directions. You need to go see your doctor ASAP. Good luck

I am taking wellbutrin now and I itch SOOO BAD!! This is my third week and I take 300mg/day. The itching only started a couple of days ago. First, it was between my fingers and on the palm of my hands and then my scalp and now my neck and ears. I can't really see a rash or hives, I just feel the itching all over. I have read on the internet that it is a side effect of the med, but if you have trouble breathing and things like that then go to the hospital. I am going to continue taking mine and call my Dr. on Monday. Good luck with the itching, I know what you are going through!

I was on Wellbutrin and did indeed have itching (but no hives). I also had urinary retention and couldn't pee even though I had to go badly. I had to go off of the wellbutrin and onto Zoloft.

Yes! I was on welbutrin for about 6 weeks. I noticed my skin smelled --uh--metalic (?) and I had a nasty taste in my mouth (that's the reason I quit cold turkey--I don't recommend that)--Do talk to you doc about it. Welbutrin also made me pretty cranky--even my 3 dogs were avoiding me. There are lots of other meds in the Welb. catagory. Good luck.
