Why did the Tigers beat the Yankees three to one if the Yankees were not a better team? Did the Tigers just have luck on their side and the Yankees did not? Or did the Tigers play with more passion and wanted it more and the Yanks did not. Give me your thoughts.

tigers obviously had more passion, but to say it was only luck is stupid to me, they had one of the best records in baseball all year, true they slipped at the end, but they also were without polanco most of that time, hes the engine to that team. also the tigers could have possibly the stringest and yougnest rotation in the playoffs, overall (not including k rogers). they were the better team, hands down. GO TIGES!

The Tigers won for several reasons.....

Better in game management.
Better pitching performances.
Failure of the Yankees to adapt their "all or nothing" approach at the plate. They didn't move runners over, bunt or play for anything other than the long ball.

The Tigers may not have as much talent, but they are a better TEAM. The Yankees are a oddball collection of fragile egos and overpaid superstars who are out for #1, as opposed to the team atmosphere of the Tigers.

remember this is the same tiger team that got swept by the lowly royals at the end of the season....its all about streaks and the tigers snapped out of it after losing game 1 to the yanks and have been on a roll ever since....any team that makes the playoffs have the potential to win it all...its all a matter of timing and getting a groove at the right time...jeter said it best after losing the series "the best team doesnt always win"

asserting that the Tigers will win by way of fact they gained the season sequence is ridiculous. In '07, the Yankees swept the Indians for the period of the standard season then whilst the playoffs rolled around, the Indians dismantled the Yankees in 4 video games. And asserting the Tigers pitching is a lot extra effective than the Yankees pitching is likewise ridiculous. i think of that the pitching rotations are practically equivalent. i've got faith that Yankees hitting and bullpen are extra effective than the Tigers pen and line-up. @mjr- Why could you have CC commencing game 3 for the Yankees? CC is going game a million against Verlander and then he will bypass game 5 against Verlander (if mandatory.)

You cant compare the season record with a 5 game series in which only 3 games were played. It just can't be done. Whoever had the better season record is the better team.

I don't beleive that the Tigers were the better team. Its just that they got hot at the right moment and theyre still hot. Anything can happen in a five game series.
