Oh, they're out there. People just don't want to admit there's still stuff in the house before selling. Try an ad in the paper. Say something about you will clean out what's left behind (just in a better way, probably)
Then when you look at the place, you can determine if there's anything of value, how much repair needs to be done, etc... and if it's worth buying the place and contents.
Rent a dumpster for the junk, hold a yard sale for knick-knacks and stuff, and glean all the antiques for yourself. Could work!
