History is what has occured in the past. It is well documented through the evidences which can be scientifically proved.

While mythology is simply based on myths and fabricated stories and which cant stand a scientific trial/ analysis.

Sorry to debunk anyone's faith in the veracity of historical text, but the truth is that there is often very little, if any, difference between mythology and history.
>Most agree that the majority of mythology has at least some basis in factual occurences. History (as man has written and taught it) has proven to be too often the same; some truth, a lot of embellishment.

I think the thing to remember here is that history is a purely subjective opinion. Is history real???

yes we know that certain things happen at certain times but remember that history is mainly told from the perspective of the ruling classes and winners of wars, there are many stories and gaps from different sides of the argument that are not included in a written historical context.

As far as myth goes these are deeply embedded symbolic narratives that evolve from pre-literate cultures and embody supernatural forces passed down in most cases by oral tradition...so there are differences to history and myth however, both a forms of story telling that are created to give meaning to a society and their core beliefs.

from the dictionary: http://www.dicitonary.com

>history: the branch of knowledge dealing with past events

>mythology: a body of myths,a set of stories, traditions, or beliefs associated with a particular group or the history of an event, arising naturally or deliberately fostered.
