4 years of college to get a bachelor's degree in basically any major. 3 years of law school day school or 4 years if you go to night school and work in the day. Then you must pass the bar exam of whatever state you want to practice in. These are given at the end of July and February, and results are available about 4 months later. So 7 years of post high school education and 7 months until you pass the bar exam before you can be a licensed attorney. The pay is better than average-- lowest starting salaries are about $50,000, highest about $200,000 for grads of elite law schools.
