My first thought would be why are you trying to wean him away from his bottle? He has his whole life to drink out of a glass. If he enjoys the comfort of a bottle why not let him have it? It will not do him any harm as long as you don't let him take it to bed or fall asleep with it. If that is what he wants I would make sure that the bottle contained water only but even in that case I would not take it away from him.
Looking at the big picture babies are babies for such a short period of time. Let them give up their sources of comfort as they are ready to. Don't be in a rush to make them grow up. Your baby will give up his bottle on his own when he is ready. He will let you know.
Good luck.

That's what I am doing with my son right now getting him off formula and taking him of the bottle. For formula start every week with one fourth of the formula gone and make it milk. Don't let him see any bottles until bed time and then if you already have him on milk find something that looks like a bottle ( shape wise) and give it to him. After a while he won't know the difference.

Sincerely yours,
Laurie

Introduce regular milk in a sippy cup during meal times. Gradually use this more when they get used to drinking more out of it. Start replacing bottles with drinks from a cup when you know they are eating good and drinking enough from the cup.

Stick to your regular bedtime routine and replace the bottle with the sippy cup. Try to use a sippy cup that takes a strong suction to get the liquid out. If it comes out super fast, it won't be as relaxing for him. Good luck!

Dont' say GET RID Of......TRANSITION her off the bottle and onto sippy cups......

For me this is what I did which might work for you too......
and you can also try the AVENT sippy cups becuz they have a soft spout compared to other sippy cups.

I breastfed my daughter till she was one.....and when I introduced whole milk to her she took it after awhile........and she didn't like the bottle so it took forever to get her to finish one bottle.......And same thing as yours...she didn't know how to drink from the sippy cup unless I held it for her.....didn't know how to tip it up so she can get the milk. I even tried to give it to her in a cup which she could drink from but was very messy......

Then someone had told me that breastfed babies can drink with a straw faster than babies who were solely bottle fed.

So I got one of those little rubbermaid drink things with the straw inside from Walmart......and she took it......! and I could squeeze it to get her to drink more milk then just sipping it.
She still drinks from this with her water.......and I got her some first year cups with straws and cover on it and she drinks all her milk from there.

Here is the rubbermaid juice box

And here is the first years cup

Best solution for making the bottle go bye-bye...

Take them all away. Only give the option for a cup. They'll get the point.

I have 4 kids, all grown.....
They were all pretty easy except for my first...
With my oldest daughter I threw a bye bye bottle party..
We had cake and a little music, and we said good-bye to bottle.
Her big brother was great about it. We all took the bottle out to the garbage and said good-bye. I'd bought her a new sippy cup and that was that...
Good luck.! ! ! !

I have 3 kids and with each one I did it differently...The easiest one was my youngest. He never had a sippy cup, I put him directly on reg cup and I just took the bottle. He never had it in bed so there was no prob there. It was rough for 2 days then he just forgot about it.

Put only water in the bottle and milk or juice in the sippy cup.
