I think they are. The 85 bears are based on intimidating defense but their offense is not spectacular. This years bears have great defense and now come to find out, they also have great offense. I am not a Bears fan. I never live in Chicago and I hate the Bulls, and Cubs. But i do have to give credit to this Bears. Grossman is supringly good but granted he hardly play last year so we couldnt really find out his talent. So as a Chargers fan living in Los Angeles, I just hope the Bears will make the Superbowl and meet u with my Chargers so we can have a chance to beat them.

So far their stats are better but unless they go undefeated and win the Super Bowl, no!! The '85 Bears only lost one game and that was to Miami. The Bears schedule looks favorable but there is a long way to go. Let's watch and see what happens.

Been a Bears fan since six years old. I think the caliber of the team as a whole, the 06 Bears are better. Of course Grossman is doing well, especially when he's hasnt started even a full season yet. The lost two starters on defense in the game vs the Bills and still looked rock solid. The 85 team i think had more individual talent, Payton, Singletary. But they simply weren't as dominating in every game (so far at least) as the Bears are playing this year. Just look at the scores from the 85 season:

Week 1 Sep 8 W 38-28 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 2 Sep 15 W 20-7 vs New England Patriots
Week 3 Sep 19 W 33-24 at Minnesota Vikings
Week 4 Sep 29 W 45-10 vs Washington Redskins
Week 5 Oct 6 W 27-19 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 6 Oct 13 W 26-10 at San Francisco 49ers
Week 7 Oct 21 W 23-7 vs Green Bay Packers
Week 8 Oct 27 W 27-9 vs Minnesota Vikings
Week 9 Nov 3 W 16-10 at Green Bay Packers
Week 10 Nov 10 W 24-3 vs Detroit Lions
Week 11 Nov 17 W 44-0 at Dallas Cowboys
Week 12 Nov 24 W 36-0 vs Atlanta Falcons
Week 13 Dec 2 L 38-24 at Miami Dolphins
Week 14 Dec 8 W 17-10 vs Indianapolis Colts
Week 15 Dec 14 W 19-6 at New York Jets
Week 16 Dec 22 W 37-17 at Detroit Lions

The 85 bears had a tactical advantage. That being, the Buddy Ryan 46 defense was brand new and teams simply didn't know how to deal with it. After a while, the defense's liabilities became so well known and exploitable, its defunct now. But at the time, it was unbeatable.

The current Bears have no such advantage. They simply have an outstanding defense, a great offense, and a really easy schedule. So no, they aren't as good relative to their individual timeframes.

NOBODY IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL IS BETTER THAN THE '85 BEARS!

NOBODY!

So far the Bears are lookin' real good. Sure, SO FAR! We have only played 4 or 5 games of the season! If less than half a season counted for much in this league, then the Vikings and Eagles would have won a dozen Superbowls between them!

You will have to wait until AFTER the SB is played to make such silly statements, Sonny Jim, at this point they are just so much immature "Rah-Rah."

Until then, NOBODY IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL IS BETTER THAN THE '85 BEARS! Sorry........

I'm a huge Bears fan, and I would have to say it's really hard to compare the two. The game has changed a lot in 20 years. The current Bears are definitely faster and more athletic than the '85 Bears, but it's hard to say anyone is better than them. 10-15 years from now we can probably make a better call.

Consider that the 1985 Bears defense, which was incredibly good, allowed 98 points in the first 5 games. This season, in their first 5 games, the Bears have allowed 36 (?) points.

Of course, one could argue that we are comparing apples and oranges in the sense that perhaps the 1985 Bears had a tougher schedule in those first 5 games vs. this season.

Well...the offense is there this time....and without superstar players...Grossman looks like he's the big leader on the team...but not quite a Tom Brady yet.

Score the most points, give up the least amount of points, not many teams can boast that.

I whole-heartidly agree.

This team may just be the best team in the history of the NFL.

They'll go 19-0.

Mark my words.

Still too early to tell. Plus this edition does not have a Hall of Fame running back and a brash QB.
