pleasee help. Is cause im doing a project about Greece, and I need to know the government type of Greece. And the encyclopedia said Greece has a parliamentary republic. Can you pleasee help me?

Wow...it definitely seems to be different than other forms I've seen.

It looks like the President is the head of state, and is elected to a 5 year term by the parliament. If the parliament cannot vote a president in by a defined majority (2/3rds in 2 votes, then a 3/5 majority in the third vote), then the Parliament is dissolved and new elections are required, at which point Parliament must select a president (again by a series of votes with a decreasing number of votes required).

The President then chooses the Prime Minister, who is responsible for the ministers.

Essentially, the Parliament holds primacy in this system (unlike the US, where the Executive and Legislative branches are held completely seperate) - the executive is beholden to the parliament. However, unlike the British Westminister system, the head of state actually has power (in Britain, the Queen is essentially a figurehead).
